The 4-column hydraulic press uses hydraulic fluid to generate force. A pump pushes fluid into a cylinder, driving the piston and ram downward to compress or shape materials. Four columns ensure stability and alignment, enabling precise, high-force operations like forging and stamping.

4-Column Hydraulic Press Working Principle

The 4-column hydraulic press operates based on Pascal's principle, which states that pressure applied to a confined fluid is transmitted equally in all directions. The machine consists of a hydraulic cylinder, pistons, a pump, and four vertical columns that provide stability and alignment. When the pump is activated, it forces hydraulic fluid into the cylinder, creating pressure that drives the piston downward. This downward force is transferred to the press's ram, which applies uniform pressure to the workpiece placed on the die or anvil. The four columns ensure precise alignment and even distribution of force, preventing tilting or misalignment during operation. Once the desired pressure or shape is achieved, the fluid is released, and the piston retracts. This process allows for high-force applications such as forging, molding, and stamping with accuracy and consistency.
